籍贯为台湾台南市，台湾大学历史学系本科，英国伯明翰大学(University of Birmingham)宗教改革与近代早期历史学硕士(MA in Reformation and Early Modern Studies)，英国约克大学(University of York)历史学博士，专长十六世纪英格兰情报系统研究、英国近代史、欧洲近代政治外交史，与英国国家档案与古文献学。
